FYI, the group "Choose Democracy" just put out an email on the same subject calling it an administrative coup. Here are 2 of their suggestions -
** "Urge media to cover this story properly. This is not "possibly illegal" — it's "patently illegal."... It's not "temporary" — it's "indefinite." There's no timetable for ending it. It's not just a memo — it's an administrative coup.
** "Urge your Representatives to act like this is a big deal. If you know us, this isn't a knee-jerk action we suggest. We think this is strategic because it's Congress that's being violated — their power is being directly undermined."
People I know on federal contracts and/or grants are being told today that their work might stop later today. This is the new homeland security, apparently: anarchy? We need government. It protects vulnerable people and keeps civil society intact.
Everything. Everywhere. All at once. This regime is determined to blow up our government so they can recreate it in the image they want. During his first term, trump was a master at using lies to enrage and distract. This time he’s following Steve Bannon’s “flood the zone” approach. And the people who are deciding what actions to take come from the Project 2025 ranks—it’s their playbook.
By the time this posts, citizen outrage has been spreading; local governments and organizations have begun taking action and suing; and courts have begun blocking the actions—for now. We must keep up the pressure! We knew to expect trump to overreach. But I don’t think anyone expected him to do so so spectacularly and so quickly. This is at least a five alarm fire! The very foundations of our government are being threatened. Will we put out the fire?
As always, your words are wise. And I read them in the email and then forget to respond on the post. Yes, everything you said. This is going to absolutely push our society to the edges, and you are right that we didn't expect it to go this fast.
